(Archived) Praxair and Integrated Environmental Technologies Sign Marketing and Distributorship Agreement
DANBURY, Conn., September 22, 2003 — Praxair, Inc. (NYSE: PX) today announced that it has entered into a strategic marketing alliance with Integrated Environmental Technologies, LLC (IET) of Richland, Washington to market IET's waste gasification systems for the on-site treatment of wastes generated by chemical, refinery, and electronics plants as well as other treatment opportunities. The plasma gasification technology produces syngas (synthesis gas) including hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO). Under the agreement, Praxair will also market and distribute the technology in North America and South America, Europe and Asia.
"A number of IET's plasma waste gasification systems have been commercially installed and are now operational at production facilities in North America and key international locations," said Jim Fuchs, president of Praxair North American Industrial Gases and president of Praxair Canada. "This exciting new process utilizing proprietary plasma technology is an innovative approach and differentiates IET's technology from similar but less effective competitive offerings. This technology supports our customers' efforts for continuous improvements in environmental stewardship. We will work with IET to demonstrate commercial viability at the scale required for these customer segments."
"Now that we are expanding commercialization with our technology, we felt it was very important to establish a relationship with a premier industrial gas company that understands our technology and has established relationships with the markets we are targeting," said Jeff Surma, IET's president and CEO. "Praxair's extensive gas technology background and broad market presence is a significant contribution to this relationship."
Integrated Environmental Technologies develops and sells a proprietary, electrically enhanced waste gasification system to a variety of industries concerned with environmental hazards and remediation and reuse of industrial waste streams. IET has been perfecting the waste gasification technology since its development in 1995 in association with the Department of Energy. For more information visit www.inentec.com.
