(Archived) Praxair Selected Again For Dow Jones Sustainability Index
DANBURY, Conn., September 7, 2004 — For the second consecutive year, Praxair, Inc. (NYSE: PX) has been selected as an index component of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. Praxair joins 318 other companies from 23 countries that are included in the index because of their industry leadership in corporate sustainability.
Praxair scored well above the average in the areas of corporate governance and environmental performance. The company's total score was 78 out of a possible total of 80. The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index was launched in 1999 as the first equity benchmark to track the financial performance of leading corporations which are committed to sustainability on a global scale. Corporations are selected for the index after a thorough assessment of economic, environmental and social criteria with a major focus on long-term shareholder value creation.
