(Archived) Praxair Recognized for Sustainability Performance
DANBURY, Conn., March 8, 2011 — For the seventh consecutive year, Praxair, Inc. (NYSE: PX) has been selected for inclusion in The Sustainability Yearbook compiled by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Sustainability Asset Management (SAM) Group. Each year, SAM invites the largest 2,500 companies worldwide to participate in its Corporate Sustainability Assessment which evaluates economic, environmental and social dimensions of a company’s business. Only the top-scoring 15% of the companies in each of the 58 sectors are eligible for inclusion in The Sustainability Yearbook.
Praxair was awarded a Silver Class, is ranked among the top eight chemical companies, and is the only industrial gases company in the top group. To qualify for the Silver Class, companies need a total score within 5% of the highest scoring sector leader. In addition, Praxair was selected as the chemical sector mover, awarded to the company that achieved the biggest proportional improvement in its sustainability performance compared with the previous year.
"This ranking recognizes the work we are doing to embed sustainable development across the entire company with the goal of continuously improving our sustainable development performance year after year," said Praxair Chairman and CEO Steve Angel.
Praxair has been a Silver or Bronze class member since the yearbook was first published in 2005.
